Y'all, quarantine + hurricane season? What is happening! In fact, this is the perfect time to catch up on some reading. Amber & I can agree that books have kept us sane throughout this quarantine. Something about holding a book while flipping through your pages puts you in another world. We challenge you all to put away your phone and pick up a book instead! Below are our favorite books that have helped time go by faster. We don't want to spoil the books for y'all so be sure to give it a read! Also, let us know if you have other recommendations! Enjoy & we love y'all.
Emmi
I am gonna be honest with y'all. I am a sucker for a good romance book. Yet, I have been trying to diversify my book recommendations. I cannot express how much reading has helped me. SO SO cheesy, but I love to think of myself as the main character. I can be the princess or in the middle of a murder scene. It is such an escape!
1) Paper Princess by Erin Watts
I zoomed through this series. This book actually took me by surprise, I did not expect to love it so much! This isn't your typical bad boy/good girl book. Be sure to read this to see what the twist is.
2) Josh and Hazel's Guide to Not Dating by Christina Lauren
One word to describe this book... ADORABLE! The humor and chemistry in this book was unreal. Did I mention Christina Lauren is a genius?
3) One of Us is Lying by Karen McManus
I am in the middle of this book and I am enjoying it so much! This book gives me Breakfast Club vibes! High school students that meet in detention, so what happens next? It is myserteous, creepy, and makes me scream about every chapter.
4) Daily Mindfulness: a Guided Journal
I know this is not your typical "book" but I wanted to include this because it has made such a DIFFERENCE in my life. I got it at Home Goods for $5! Feeling anxious or stressed? Devote a couple pages to detox. Do not grab your phone when you wake up. Kick off your morning with some journaling and reflecting!
5) The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck by Mark Manson
OOOO. This book will be your wake up call. It basically states it in the title. Learn to not give a f*ck and let go! There is no rule book to life. Live it to the fullest!
Amber
1) The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren
I think it is safe to say that I am a huge fan of Christina Lauren! Emmi mentioned a book by her as well and though I love that one, this one I love a tiny bit more... SO cute yet dramatic. This book you will not be able to put down!
2) The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah
Wow. Just wow. This book is probably my all time favorite book I have ever read. This book tells the story of two sisters in France during WWII. If you love to feel complete yet longing for more, this book is perfect for you. Also please read this before the new movie comes out... thanks!
3) Love, Lies, and Spies
If you are a girly girl, or like the idea of marriage and fashion this is the book for you! This book is based in the nineteenth century and is definitely charming. I suggest a good rose wine when reading this!
4) Girl, Wash Your Face by Rachel Hollis
This is no ordinary "self-help" book! I read this book not thinking that I was going to really gain anything from it but boy, was I wrong! Hollis goes on throughout the book and explains how she successfully tackled each obstacle in her life and you'd be surprised how relatable it is! Get an iced coffee or a cold brew and read a chapter in the morning!
5) The Book Charmer by Karen Hawkins
Oh the magic of books... I never wanted this book to end! This book has a special place in my heart... I have a grandma that is currently suffering from the cruel disease of Alzheimer's, and of course one of the main characters in this book has the disease as well. Though there are many reasons to love this book, the realness of this book is why I do. Love you forever Grandmama.
